NHS Flu Vaccine Service

Home Services NHS Flu Vaccine Service

Every year the flu can cause significant problems for those who are in "at risk groups". These patients are more vulnerable to the comlications of flu, and more likely than healthy patients to end up with life-threatening symptoms once infected. It is essential for these patients to be vaccinated as early as possible during the influenza season, which runs from September through to March.

It can be a struggle to obtain an appointment with the practice nurse, since surgeries tend to be fulluy booked in the first month. The convenience of using a pharmacy can also be very useful to some patients. At Shantys Pharmacy, we administer the same vaccine as your GP practice uses.

We are currently vaccinating all patients who are London residents, above the age of 16, and belong in an "at risk" group on the NHS, free of charge.

You are considered to be at risk, and therefore entitled to a free vaccine on the NHS if you are either:

Over 65
Pregnant
Immunosuppressed
The main carer for an elderly or disabled person
Liviing a residential or Nursing Home
Living in Student Halls of Residence

or if you suffer from any of the following conditions;

Type 2 Diabetes
Chronic Liver or Kidney disease
Chronic Heart Disease
Asthmatic
Chronic Neurological Disease of certain types
